Macguffin Zine – “Plugged In”
This project explores the design potential of the mundane by transforming an everyday object into the central focus of a publication. I selected a standard power cord—an item we often overlook—as my "Macguffin," using it as the visual and conceptual anchor for the zine. Through careful observation of its structure, function, and symbolism, I developed a design strategy that reflects themes of connection, power, and reliance on technology.
The final deliverable is an 8-page saddle-stitched zine that showcases consistent file preparation and preflighting. It features the thoughtful integration of two typefaces, clean typographic hierarchy, and a cohesive visual language rooted in the object’s physical characteristics.
Typography Poster– “Futura”
This typography poster was created to showcase the “Futura” typeface and highlight its history, design features, and visual personality. I focused on using bold color, strong contrast, and strategic placement of letterforms to capture the geometric precision that Futura is known for.
Fictional Publication- “Aura Magazine”
This magazine cover was my final for Adobe Illustrator workshop. The project involved selecting a unique theme for a magazine, developing a creative name, and crafting a cohesive cover design that visually represented the magazine's concept and target audience.
For my cover I chose a 90s—early 2000s theme and developed the name "Aura Magazine" to reflect the Y2K vibe. I aimed to use eye-catching visuals and typography to pay homage to the magazine design of the early 2000's. In addition, I created a 2D logo to pair with the title of the publication as well as create a distinct visual identity to add depth and dimension. Throughout the logo design process, I carefully selected a disitinct color palette and specific typographic pairings.
Character Brochure- “Maxine Minx”
This tri-fold brochure was created for my InDesign Workshop class as part of a character-focused design project. It highlights Maxine Minx from the film MaXXXine.
